WHO WE ARE · SINCE 2019

We Walk So

Nigeria Can Know

Pulmonary Hypertension.

Walk4PH is Nigeria’s only walkathon dedicated to Pulmonary Hypertension. We walk to raise awareness, commemorate World PH Day, and fund life-saving medication for Nigerians who can’t afford it.

OUR FOUNDATION

Mission, Vision & What Drives Us

OUR MISSION

To raise awareness of Pulmonary Hypertension across Nigeria, ensure earlier diagnosis, and fund access to medication for patients who cannot afford treatment.

OUR Vision

A Nigeria where no one suffers or dies from Pulmonary Hypertension simply because they didn’t know it existed, or couldn’t afford to treat it.

OUR COMMITMENT

100% of all donations received through Walk4PH go directly to funding PH medication for patients. Not overhead. Not events. Medication.

UNDERSTANDING THE DISEASE

WHAT IS PULMONARY HYPERTENSION?

Pulmonary Hypertension (PH) is a serious and complex condition in which the blood vessels in the lungs become stiff and narrow, putting strain on the right side of the heart. It can affect anyone, from newborns to older adults, and may be caused by a variety of factors.

PH is not a single disease. It is classified into five groups based on underlying causes, including heart disease, lung disease, chronic blood clots, and other conditions such as sickle cell disease. It is often difficult to diagnose because its signs can be mistaken for other, more common heart and lung conditions.

While there is currently no cure, people living with PH can lead long, meaningful lives with the right care, including a PH-specialist healthcare team and appropriate treatment.

Shortness of breath

Often the first symptom — especially during activity or even at rest in advanced cases

Fatigue and dizziness

Persistent tiredness and lightheadedness, often dismissed as other conditions

Palpitations & chest pain

Racing or irregular heartbeat and chest tightness are common and often alarming signs

Fluid retention & swelling

Swelling in the legs, ankles, and abdomen caused by the heart working under increased strain
